Great news for Bank Holiday Monday…
…we’re open as normal! That’s not the only good news, we also have a whole heap of new routes; lead & top rope, plus loads of new blocs! There really is something for everyone this Bank Holiday!
The Reading Climbing Centre is one of the UK’s premier climbing walls and we are excited to recruit an Operations Manager to be part of our dynamic team.
The Operations Manager will report to the Centre Management and will assist them in managing the day-to-day running of the centre, operations, health and safety, staff management, course management, staff training & development, NICAS, reception, instructing duties and administration.
Acting as our Senior Instructor you will look to continually develop course content as well as train and develop our staff as a mentor. We realise that our centre is only as good as our staff, and therefore we need an Operations Manager to keep-up staff morale, maintain our exceptionally high safety standards as well as lead the team into delivering a range of high quality, fun and memorable climbing sessions.
In addition the Operations Manager will be responsible for building, climbing wall, and equipment maintenance, as well as PPE procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with the Centre Management team to ensure that all Health and Safety procedures and policies as well as Operational Procedures are followed. The role will also include Duty Manager responsibilities as well as instructional work.
The role would be based on a 40 hour working week, with a rolling shift pattern to include weekdays, evenings and weekends. It offers both competitive pay and generous benefits, with the opportunity to work for one of the largest and fastest growing Climbing Centre Groups in the UK.
Salary is dependent on experience.
To apply for the role please send your CV with a covering letter to the Centre Manager Tom Vaessen at email@example.com.
NICAS is the only nationally recognised scheme that introduces new climbers to climbing on indoor walls. The scheme focuses on making young climbers, getting them hooked for life, and giving them the tools to make this happen. Working through skill development, all safety aspects as well as climbing ability, the 5 awarding levels have the perfect progression for all young climbers aged 7 and above.
The Scheme comprises five levels of award aimed at complete novices to expert climbers. The scheme is split into two parts; Part 1 contains Levels 1 and 2 and Part 2 contains Levels 3 to 5. Upon registering with NICAS at Reading Climbing Centre candidates receive a log booklet for Levels 1 and 2 and a log binder with booklet for Levels 3 to 5. After achieving each level they are awarded with a certificate on behalf of the ABCTT.
The five levels are:
An entry level aimed at novices that recognises their ability to climb safely under supervision.
Aimed at promoting good practice in climbing and bouldering unsupervised on an artificial wall.
A more advanced top roping and bouldering level that focuses on developing technique and movement skills.
Concentrates on the skills required to both lead climb and belay a lead climber.
The top level that focuses on improving performance, a deeper understanding of climbing systems and the wider world of climbing.
